The Chiefs and people of Atiglime have breathed a sigh of relief following the commissioning and handing over of a 3-unit classroom block for the Atiglime Basic School by the MP for the area, Peter Nortsu-Kotoe, on April 15, 2023.

The project was initiated by an organisation called OKRA Project in collaboration with the people of Atiglime and some funding from the MP, and as part of the memorandum of agreement between the community and OKRA Project, the community was to provide some materials for the construction of the school block.

The Atiglime community found it difficult to raise the funds needed to buy the materials for the continuation of the project.

The Chiefs of Atiglime and the Assemblyman for the area approached the MP to support the project, a call he wholeheartedly accepted since it was in line with his resolve to ensure that schools in the area have the requisite infrastructure and facilities to facilitate proper teaching and learning activities.

In an interview with the media, the MP said, “As part of my commitment, I supplied sand needed to fill the foundation and also provided all the wood needed for the roofing of the building at a total cost of sixty-five thousand Ghana cedis (GHC 65,000.00).”

According to him, he has since 2021 initiated various classroom projects in 13 different communities across the constituency, which are currently at various stages of construction. “I hope that all of these will be completed in time to further close the gap in infrastructure deficit schools in the area are grappling with.”

The MP, Peter Mortsu-Kotoe, was grateful to the OKRA project management team for coming to the aid of Atiglime and helping in reducing the infrastructure deficit in our schools.
