Authorities in Akim Oda have confirmed the arrest of one suspect following a violent machete clash involving three people believed to be illegal miners.
The Birim Central Municipal Chief Executive, Solomon Brako Kusi, disclosed that one person has been taken into custody in connection with the incident that has since become a national topic.
According to Hon. Kusi, the two other individuals involved in the clash sustained varying degrees of injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment under heavy police guard.
The altercation, which reportedly occurred in broad daylight, involved the use of machetes and has raised concerns about violence linked to illegal mining activities.
The Municipal Chief Executive commended the Akyem Oda Divisional Police Command for their swift response in addressing the situation.
He noted that the timely intervention of the police helped to restore calm and prevent further escalation.
Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the clash.
