Akufo-Addo Has Lost The Fight Against Corruption – Mahama

In his acceptance speech after being named the NDC’s presidential candidate for the 2024 election, former President John Dramani Mahama said President Nana Akufo-Addo has totally failed in his fight against corruption.

He criticised Nana Akufo-Addo for trying to cover up numerous corruption scandals, including the recent report on illegal mining by Professor Frimpong-Boateng.

“The truth is, this government cannot just wish away the reality that Ghana is not looking good on the Corruption Perception Index of Transparency International. The President no longer makes corruption a pet topic in his speeches because corruption has defeated him, hands down.

“Let me assure you, as I stated in Garu in the Upper East during my campaign tours, that I will adopt a robust root-and-branch approach to fight corruption because corruption is a major source through which state resources are wasted. It will not matter whether the people involved are our own or from some other party,” he stated.

The National Democratic Congress, an opposition party, just selected John Dramani Mahama, a former president, as its candidate for the presidential election in 2024. The election held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, resulted in an overwhelming win for the former president, who received 297,603 votes (98.9%) to Kojo Bonsu’s 3,181 votes (1.1%).
