The Akyem Tafo Pastors Fellowship has donated sanitary products worth GH¢ 2,500 to the maternity unit of the New Tafo Government Hospital in the Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern Region, in support of maternal healthcare at the facility.
The group also made a cash donation of GH¢ 6,800 to settle the medical bills of seven financially challenged patients currently admitted to the facility.

Items donated include toilet roll, antiseptic disinfectants, hypochlorite bleach, and liquid soap among others. These supplies are expected to help improve hygiene and sanitation conditions within the maternity unit.
In an interview with GBC News, the Chairman of the Akyem Tafo Pastors Fellowship and Head Pastor of the Tafo Branch of Revival Outreach Church International, Rev. George Sefa Acheampong, stated that the fellowship aims to promote the welfare of pastors in Akyem Tafo while making meaningful contributions to society through charitable initiatives.
“As a fellowship, our mission is not only to look after the spiritual needs of our members but also to support the well-being of pastors and extend compassion to the larger community,” he said.
He emphasized that maternal health remains a critical component of Ghana’s healthcare system and that faith-based organizations have a vital role in supporting expectant mothers. He encouraged patients and staff at the facility to remain prayerful, prioritize their health, and continue to trust in God for healing and provision.

“Maternal health is a matter of life and death for many families. As a body of faith, we believe it is our duty to support women during this crucial period and contribute to easing their burden. To all the mothers and the staff here, I say keep the faith. Be prayerful, take your health seriously, and trust that God will meet you at your point of need,” he added.
The Principal Midwifery Officer at the New Tafo Government Hospital, Afriyie Ataa Panin, appealed for support to help equip the maternity unit to provide improved care for pregnant women. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to the pastors for their donation, and encouraged Ghanaians to register with the National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS, to lessen the burden of out-of-pocket medical expenses.
“Every Ghanaian should make sure that they have a National Health Insurance card because you never know when you might fall sick. Taking this proactive step can help prevent financial strain during medical emergencies, as the card will cater for most of the expenses”, she said.
The donation was met with appreciation from both hospital staff and beneficiaries, who described the support as a timely blessing.
