AMOSU 94 Celebrates 30 Year Anniversary | Education

The Assin Manso Old Students Union (AMOSU) has celebrated its 30th anniversary in a grand style with a piece of advice to students to study hard to lift the image of the school high.

Mr Nicholas Agyekum, President of the 94-year group made these remarks when the year group celebrated its 30th anniversary on the theme: “Reunite June 94 mates, fraternise and rejuvenate alumni activities that foster growth”.

He informed the students that, they were using abandoned poultry as their classroom, and dormitories without louvres and mosquito nets, but managed to pass their exams successfully.

However, he admonished that a congested classroom, though its associated problems, doesn’t take part of your IQ away, so they should study hard.

Given back to their alma mater, he said the group had supported the school with some medical items during the covid-19, era, constructed a bore-hole, repaired the broken down mechanised bore-hole and refurbished the girl’s dormitory.

The anniversary celebration, he said also allowed them to meet each other for over 30 years, network and build bridges among themselves.

Mr Eric Nyarkoh headmaster of the school was grateful to the 94-year group for their kind gestures and appealed for more.

However, he enumerated some challenges confronting the school as, inadequate classroom tables and chairs, insufficient dining hall benches and tables, inadequate staff bungalows, air conditioners for the ICT laboratory, roofing and furnishing of the visual arts department, pavilion for home economics and inadequate toilet facilities for the girls dormitory.

The school, he said has chalked a lot of successes in sports, won the robotic award, did excellently well in the WASSCE exams spanning from 2016 to date and in the year 2023, the school obtained 77.4 per cent.

He said the school has a population of about 3004, with 1346 being males.

Mr Emmanuel Essilfie-Conduah, head of corporate affairs of GEXIM bank outlined some prudent strategies to give back to their alma mater saying, all alumni should organise sports activities between themselves, all year groups should partake in all school events and functions, year groups offer guidance and counselling for students.

He admonished students to put up their best and lift the image of the school.

Mrs Agartha Orcan, secretary of the AMOSU 94 year group was excited to be back to his alma mater and advised students to study hard and let the sky be their limit.

In attendance was Nananom, Mr John Ntim Fordjour, Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin South and Mr Kofi Damtse, Independent candidate contesting the seat of MP in Assin South.
