Ansu Fati has joined Premier League side Brighton on a season-long loan from Barcelona.
The 20-year-old Spain forward made the switch to the English club after falling down the pecking order at Barcelona, who were looking to create space in their squad for other transfers.
Brighton’s deal to secure Fati does not include an obligation to buy, allowing the young talent to potentially return to Barcelona at the end of the loan period.
Fati was a highly sought-after player during the transfer window, with Tottenham also expressing interest in acquiring his services.
Fati’s decision to join Brighton was influenced by the club’s style of play under manager Roberto de Zerbi, which resonated with the talented forward.
De Zerbi said: “This is a great deal for all of us. I am sure Ansu will help us to reach a new target and we can help him get back to the level he deserves to be.”
