Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo received praise from Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola after his impressive performance for the team against Liverpool on Saturday.
The former Bristol City forward was on target for the Cherries as they fell to the Reds at Anfield in an exciting encounter in their second Premier League match of the season.
Despite losing 3-1, Semenyo distinguished himself for his team by stunning Liverpool with a fantastic strike with his weaker foot before the outcome was reversed.
Speaking after the game, Iraola, expressed his satisfaction with the attacker who has already endured a torrid time in the English top flight.
“Antoine was good last week. I think the minutes he played, he gave good energy to the team. Today also, he pushed a lot, he finished very tired and that is what we expect from our wingers and our forwards, to give everything they can,” he said after the game.
In the game, Antoine Semenyo’s third-minute goal was cancelled by Luis Diaz moments later before Mohamed Salah added another to give Liverpool the lead. Jota then sealed the victory after the break despite Liverpool losing Alexis Mac Allister to a red card.
Semenyo, who moved from English Championship team Bristol City to Bournemouth in January, is looking to regain his previous level of performance after having a difficult time since his arrival due to injuries and insufficient playing time.
