As part of International Women’s Day celebrations, about 300 females, including children have benefitted from a free medical screening organised by ASA Savings and Loans Limited, Mamponteng Business Centre, in the Kwabre District of the Ashanti Region.

Various ailments, including malaria, blood pressure, diabetes, syphilis, hepatitis B, etc., were screened and tested for the beneficiaries. Also, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) examination was carried out for beneficiaries.

Rev. Dr. Antwi Bosiako of the Christ Setoria Clinic in Kronum, who led the medical team for the screening, observed that while patrons were screened for several conditions, some common diagnoses, such as high blood pressure, waist problems as well as high cases of malaria were recorded.

He noted that these diseases were common, especially among traders – who are mostly their patrons.

He therefore encouraged them to clean their surroundings always to prevent mosquitoes from breeding, make time to periodically check their health status, take their medication as well as take some time off their busy schedules to get enough rest.

According to Dr. Bosiako, it is important for traders to prioritise their health and that of their families. “Good health is important for every individual, if you do not get enough rest and check on your health status and you become ill, you cannot go about your daily activity; health is paramount.”

Alexander Opoku Ayitey, Area Manager for Mampong Area and Joyce Teye, Branch Manager of Mamponteng of ASA Savings and Loans Limited were happy about the turn up.

“This is also part of our corporate social responsibility, and our clients are very important to us, as a company,” Mr. Ayitey added.

Insecticide treated nets were distributed to all patrons.
