Ghana football legend Asamoah Gyan has been named among an elite group of former players selected by SuperSport for its coverage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The former Black Stars captain, who remains the highest-scoring African player in FIFA World Cup history, will serve as a pundit throughout the tournament, which began on June 11 and is being hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Gyan is part of a distinguished African panel that includes Salomon Kalou, William Troost-Ekong and Siphiwe Tshabalala. Other former stars joining the broadcast team are Bongani Khumalo, Teko Modise, Amanda Dlamini, Stanton Fredericks, Shaun Bartlett, Jimmy Tau and Simphiwe Dludlu.

The African contingent will be joined by international football icons including John Terry, Bacary Sagna and Roberto Di Matteo.

SuperSport says the expanded panel will provide expert analysis throughout the 48-team tournament, the largest World Cup in history. The broadcaster also announced that all 104 matches will be available across DStv packages, making the competition accessible to subscribers from DStv Access to DStv Premium.
