Asare Manu, the chairman of Kotoko Circles in the Ashanti Region, recently shared his account of an incident where supporters stormed the club’s training grounds due to the team’s lackluster performance in the league.

Asante Kotoko has been struggling in their recent matches, losing four out of their last five games and drawing one.

The poor performance sparked frustration among the supporters, leading to the unexpected incident at the training grounds.

“Tuesday that the incident happened we were going to see the IMC then we meet the players and coaches in separate meetings so i informed Nana Pinkra and he said he was not around when he gets back he will call me. I was waiting for Nana Pinkra’s call at work at 4 pm and I receievd a call that what is going on at the training grounds some supporters are preventing the coaches from performing their duties,” Manu told Peace FM as monitored by Footballghana.com

“In fact it was bad I called my vice chairman to come so that we go he came to my workplace to pick then we went. When we got to the training grounds the car I was in the windscreen was damaged when they saw that I was getting down they told me not to. Nana will come and talk to them so I shouldn’t get down we struggled and managed to pack at the gym and walked to the place it wasn’t a good scene. They didn’t want to listen to anyone so I pleaded with them several times and then went to stand somewhere.

“We were there and Emmanuel Dasoberi came the Administrative Manager he too was stopped from going to were the players are they sack him too. He called some of the group leaders still they didn’t want to listen I called Nana Pinkra and he said he is on the way coming. Eventually, he came still there was so much agitation and we pleaded with them Nana spoke with them and they gave him their grievances. All those who spoke said we don’t want the want coach. The players too we should talk to them some a not playing their heart out for the club if they have any problem they should tell us and those that feel they can’t play they should say it and leave.

“It wasn’t a good scene at the training grounds but Nana came to speak to them and he said he will give all their complaints to the team owner what is going on. So we are waiting I have heard Otumfuo will meet both the players, coaches, and the IMC we waiting for the outcome of that meeting,”

Asante Kotoko will play league leaders FC Samartex on match week 27.
