In a recent development, Eugene Arhin, the Communications Director at Jubilee House, has strongly denied reports claiming that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo granted presidential pardons to certain individuals, including Ato Essien. These reports were fueled by the circulation of a letter allegedly signed by Kow Essuman, Legal Counsel to the President, which suggested the pardons had been granted.
In an official statement issued on January 5, 2025, Eugene Arhin clarified that no such pardons had been granted by the President. He referred to the circulating reports as inaccurate and urged the public to disregard them. “The attention of the Office of the President has been drawn to reports circulating in sections of the media suggesting that the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has granted a presidential pardon to certain individuals. We wish to categorically state that these assertions are inaccurate, and no pardon has been granted by President Akufo-Addo,” the statement read.
This clarification comes amid growing public interest and speculation about potential pardons.
