Experienced Ghanaian coach Bashiru Hayford is set to part ways with Heart of Lions following the expiration of his contract with the Kpando-based club.

Hayford joined the Giant Killers after taking over from Fatawu Salifu during a difficult period for the club in December 2023 with Lions struggling for form at the time of his appointment.

The veteran tactician successfully steadied the ship and went on to oversee the club for almost three years, helping them remain competitive in the Ghana Premier League.

Despite his efforts, Heart of Lions endured a challenging 2025/26 campaign, finishing 13th on the league table with 45 points.

Hayford, a two-time Ghana Premier League-winning coach, is widely respected for his vast experience and contribution to Ghanaian football, having managed several top-flight clubs throughout his career.

With his contract now coming to an end, the former Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold coach is expected to move on, bringing his stint with the Kpando-based side to a close.

Heart of Lions are now expected to begin the search for a new head coach as they prepare for the upcoming season.
