Coach David Kotey Neequaye has named a formidable starting lineup for today’s Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) opening match against hosts Egypt at the Hurghada Beach Soccer Arena.
With a blend of experienced players and rising stars, Coach Kotey is aiming to strike a balance between skill and youthful energy in the opening match of the competition.
The starting five feature standout goalkeeper Robert Nyadedzor, who was key in Ghana’s qualification to the AFCON, providing crucial saves and leadership from the back against Cote d’Ivoire in the qualifiers.
The defence will be anchored by Precious Torgbo, Kini Ticor, and Reuben Semabia Larli, who are all known in the Ghana Beach Soccer League for their ability to read the game and thwart opposing attacks.
Skipper Richard Martei Osai starts up front for Ghana and is poised to control the tempo of the game with his agility and impressive scoring ability.
Substitutes for today’s tie include Alexander Adjetey Adjei, who still holds the record of scoring most goals at the Beach Soccer AFCON in a single tournament after he finished the 2015 edition of the competition with 17 goals.
Other substitutes include Joseph Awunisie, Eugene Dekpey, and Alfred Torsu.
Today’s game marks Ghana’s return to the continental stage in beach soccer after a 9-year absence.
