Kid Cudi is opening up about some of the defining moments of his music career in the latest episode of Big Bro with Kid Cudi, the Wave Original podcast series hosted by the multi-hyphenate GRAMMY Award-winning star.
In this week’s episode, Cudi reunites with his longtime friend, producer, and collaborator Dot da Genius for an in-depth conversation about their creative journey, the making of iconic records, and the experiences that shaped their careers.
One of the standout moments from the episode sees the pair reflect on the creation of Day ‘n’ Nite — the breakout hit that helped launch Cudi into global stardom. Dot recalled noticing a creative shift in Cudi’s songwriting approach during the sessions for the rapper’s landmark debut project, Man on the Moon: The End of Day.
Cudi explained that embracing simplicity became a turning point in his artistry.
“I was able to find minimalism, it wasn’t so wordy,” he shared. “I want everybody to feel like they can sing along. I want everybody to understand what I’m saying.”

“I’m just a big nerd,” Dot admitted. “I’ve built maybe eight computers in the past two years for friends and family.”
