Ghanas Black Meteors have arrived in Benghazi ahead of their CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying tie against Libya.
Head coach Desmond Ofei and his squad landed at Benina International Airport on Sunday, November 8, 2026, as preparations began for the first leg of the second-round contest.
Ghana will face Libya at Benghazi International Stadium on Wednesday, November 11. The match is scheduled to kick off at 7pm local time, which is 5pm Ghana time.
The return fixture will take place at Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, November 17, 2026.
The two-legged tie will determine which team advances to the next stage of the qualification process. The winners will meet either Equatorial Guinea or Niger in the following round.
Ghana were given a bye in the opening round of the three-stage qualifying series. Seven teams will eventually join hosts Egypt at the eight-team 2027 CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations.
The campaign is also seen as an opportunity for Ghana to revive its hopes of returning to Olympic mens football after a prolonged absence.
The Black Meteors last appeared in the mens football tournament at the 2004 Athens Games. Reaching the 2027 tournament would therefore be an important step towards ending that 23-year absence.
Ghana must first overcome Libya across the two matches before attempting to progress through the remaining stages of qualification.
