Black Queens have strengthened their technical team ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations with the appointment of Swedish performance analyst James Slaughter as the team’s new video analyst.Slaughter, from Malm, joins Ghana after building an impressive career with Swedish giants Malm FF, where he rose through the ranks from recording matches as a teenager to becoming the club’s Head of Performance Analysis.His appointment adds further expertise to the Black Queens’ backroom staff as Ghana intensifies preparations for the continental tournament in Morocco.As the team’s video analyst, Slaughter will be responsible for recording training sessions and matches, reviewing performances with the coaching staff, identifying areas for improvement and analysing opponents to help shape match strategies.He will work closely with head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren, assistant coach Pierre Persson and performance analyst Ronny to provide detailed tactical and technical insights.Slaughter believes video analysis can make a significant difference in modern football, where fine margins often determine the outcome of matches. His work will focus on identifying key moments from games and training sessions while producing detailed reports on Ghana’s opponents.He also acknowledged the challenge of analysing teams with limited available footage, including some of Ghana’s group-stage opponents, but views the task as an important part of helping the Black Queens gain a competitive edge.The appointment is another step in the Ghana Football Association’s efforts to strengthen the team’s technical department ahead of WAFCON 2026.The Black Queens are hoping to improve on their bronze-medal finish at the previous edition as they target a successful campaign in Morocco.
