The Black Queens have intensified preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations with another high-profile friendly against Nigeria coming up this weekend.

Ghana’s senior women’s national team is currently in Morocco, where the WAFCON will be staged from July 25 to August 16, as coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren continues to assess his squad ahead of the competition.

The Queens head into the fixture in high spirits after defeating Ivory Coast 1-0 in their first pre-WAFCON friendly in Casablanca, with Sharon Sampson scoring the decisive goal.

Bjorkegren will now get another opportunity to assess his players when Ghana take on West African rivals Nigeria on Saturday, July 18, at the Stade Larbi Zaouli in Casablanca. The match is scheduled to kick off at 16:00 GMT.

The friendly is expected to provide another stern test for the Black Queens before the start of the tournament, with both sides using the encounter to sharpen up for the continental showpiece.

Ghana have been drawn in Group D alongside Cameroon, Mali and Cape Verde and will be aiming to make a strong start when the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations gets underway later this month.
