Famous Ghanaian rapper Black Sherif, who recently won the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards [VGMA] artiste Of The Year, has allegedly been arrested at the Kotoka International Airport on the evening of July 19,2023 over alleged fraud.
The news of Black Sherif’s arrest has been met with mixed reactions, with some fans expressing disappointment and others questioning the validity of the allegations.
GhanaWeekend has gathered the following information about the alleged case:
Cruise People Limited (Your Cruise People) had engaged the management of Black Sherif for the artist to perform at the second edition of its musical cruise onboard a cruise ship dubbed Afro Cruise Jam, on August 19, 2023 in Greece.
The company paid an initial deposit of $20,000 to Black Sherif in exchange for a video recording of him confirming his participation and availability for the show.
Black Sherif acknowledged receipt of payment and assured Cruise People Limited that the video clip would be ready before the broadcast date.
Cruise People Limited then made deposits and secured cabins on the cruise ship in anticipation of increased interest and patronage of the event. However, Black Sherif failed to provide the video clip as promised, and the media encounter with Multimedia Group was held without his input.
As a result of the famous rapper’s failure to confirm his participation, the cabins on the cruise ship were cancelled
The lawyers of Cruise People wrote to Black Sherif and his management on May 23, 2023, but they have not yet received a reply.
Cruise People Limited is now considering legal action against the ‘Kweku The Traveller’ rapper for breach of contract.
Efforts to reach Black Sherif and his team to ascertain the truth of the matter have so far been unsuccessful.
