The Black Starlets’ nationwide talent identification programme continued this weekend with a two-day scouting exercise in the Northern Region as Ghana intensifies preparations for its next U17 national team.

The exercise will take place on June 22 and 23 at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale under the supervision of newly appointed head coach Kassim Ocansey Mingle and his technical team.

Activities are scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. on both days, with aspiring young footballers participating in assessment matches designed to evaluate their technical skills, tactical awareness, physical attributes and overall potential.

The programme is open to players born in 2010 and 2011, who are eligible for the next Black Starlets cycle. Talented players identified during the exercise will be invited to the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram for the next phase of the selection process.

The Northern Region programme follows similar scouting exercises in the Upper West and Upper East regions. With the 2026 WAFU Zone B U17 Championship qualifiers on the horizon, Mingle is seeking to build a strong squad capable of restoring Ghana’s status in youth football.
