Ghana’s Black Stars have arrived in Bouake ahead of their opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations Group C qualifier against Cote dIvoire.The team arrived in the Ivorian city on Wednesday after departing Accra in the morning as preparations for Thursday’s crucial encounter entered the final stage.Carlos Queiroz and his technical team are expected to oversee the Black Stars’ final training session at the Stade de la Paix, the venue for the match, later on Wednesday.The session will give the players an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the pitch and allow Queiroz to make his final tactical preparations ahead of the game.Ghana opened camp in Accra on Monday and trained at the Accra Sports Stadium before travelling to Cote dIvoire.Eighteen players took part in Tuesday’s training session, with the squad gradually coming together following a number of withdrawals and late additions.The Black Stars have been forced to make several changes to the squad ahead of the qualifiers, with Mohammed Kudus, Antoine Semenyo and Nathaniel Adjei among the players unavailable.Queiroz has subsequently added several players to strengthen the squad, including Osasuna defender Rockson Yeboah, who has received his first senior call-up after making three La Liga appearances this season.Thursday’s meeting will be Ghana’s first Group C fixture as they begin their bid to return to the Africa Cup of Nations after missing the 2025 tournament in Morocco.The Black Stars will be looking to secure a positive result away from home before returning to Accra to face The Gambia on September 27.Cote dIvoire, Ghana, The Gambia and Somalia make up Group C, with the Black Stars aiming to start the campaign strongly under Queiroz.The Portuguese coach will hope his team can handle the challenge posed by the hosts and return to Ghana with a result before turning their attention to the home fixture against The Gambia.
