Ghana coach Otto Addo has expressed confidence in his team’s mental readiness ahead of the crucial encounter against Sudan on Tuesday afternoon in Libya.

This is a must-win game for Ghana, who remain winless in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and find themselves in a challenging position.

A draw or loss against Sudan could further diminish Ghana’s hopes of qualifying for next year’s tournament in Morocco, something Addo is determined to avoid.

Ghana currently sits third in the group following a loss to Angola in Kumasi and back-to-back draws with Niger and Sudan.

Despite the setback, Addo believes the team’s recent performance against Sudan was their best so far in the qualifiers, though they struggled to find the net in Accra, missing several chances. Ahead of Tuesday’s game at Martyrs of Benina Stadium, Addo is optimistic that luck will finally be on their side.

“I think we showed it in the last game. We don’t have to look too much back. I think the last game was, in terms of passion and willingness to win, it was there. But just the last thing was missing and this is to score goals,” Addo said.

He added “I think the boys are mentally ready, and this is the only thing which is missing. We have to score, and we have to believe in ourselves. This is very important. With this belief, goals will come. We just surely have to show consistency. Especially with the national team, there’s no time. In the end, it’s all about success and all about winning, and we have to show it. We didn’t win the last game or the last three games, so it’s time to win.”
