The Regional Hospital in Wa has taken delivery of anti-malaria drugs and other pharmaceutical products valued at 100,000.00 Ghana Cedis.

The package was donated to the Hospital by Biss GVS Pharma Limited through its subsidiary, Asterisk Life Sciences.

GBC’s Emmanuel Mensah-Abludo in this piece says the donation forms part of efforts of the benefactors to reduce the malaria burden across Africa.

A medical representative of Bliss GVS Pharma, Ibrahim Seidu Mumuni who presented the items indicated that it is aimed at giving a leg up to the government to deliver quality Healthcare to the citizenry.

“As a company, we are committed to supporting the government of Ghana to provide quality Healthcare to the people of this country under our program – ACT for Africa campaign which seeks to medically eradicate malaria from Africa, to make Africa a malaria-free continent.

This ACT for Africa campaign started three years ago in the southern sector of Ghana, mainly in Accra where we sent donations to facilities in Accra and also visited tertiary institutions to educate them on personal and environmental hygiene to help eradicate malaria in their surroundings,” he stated.

Mr Mumuni said “last year, we made donations to six facilities across five regions. This year, we are increasing it to nine donations across nine regions”. The Director of the Upper West Regional Hospital, Dr Robert Amesiya who received the medical support was very grateful to Bliss GVS Pharma Limited and urged others to emulate the example.

“We want to thank and assure you that these medications you have donated, we will ensure that they are used for the intended purpose.”

Dr. Amesiya equally entreated others, emulated the kind gesture of Bliss GVS Pharma and extend a hand of friendship to the hospital so that they can together fight not only malaria, but other diseases that are plaguing the people in the catchment area of Upper West.

The medicines included amoxiclav injections, paracetamol suppositories, Lornart, Alaxin and Gsunate.
