Samartex coach Nurudeen Amadu says his outfit will travel to Cameroon to face Victoria United in the CAF Champions League preliminary round with players that have character.
The Timber giants are set for their maiden participation in the CAF elite competition after emerging as champions in the recently concluded Ghana Premier League season, dethroning Medeama.
Samartex will travel to face Victoria United in Cameroon on August 18 before the return fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium on August 25, 2024.
And according to the coach, players with character will make the trip to Cameroon ahead of their game against Victoria United.
“We will travel to Cameroon with players that have character. Fighting spirit is key in football, if you don’t make effort, no matter how good you are as a player, talent alone will not work. So we will see how we approach the game” he said.
Samartex are aiming to make a mark in their maiden CAF Champions League campaign. The winner of the tie between the Ghanaian outfit and Victoria United will progress to the second preliminary round where they potentially face Moroccan giants Raja Club Athletic for a place in the group stages
The Ghana champions are currently in Togo as they intensify preparation for their maiden Africa campaign, which begins this weekend.
At the weekend, Samartex and ASKO de Kara engaged in a friendly game at the Stade De Kegue and settled for a pulsating goalless draw.
Despite creating scoring opportunities, both teams were unable to find the back of the net as the game ended 0-0 at the Stade De Kegue.
