Renowned  American actor, Carl Weathers, has been confirmed dead Weathers, known for his portrayal of Apollo Creed in the initial four Rocky films, peacefully passed away in his sleep, as confirmed by a statement from his family.

His cinematic repertoire extends to roles in notable productions such as Predator alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger and Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore.

Weathers was described by his family as an exceptional individual who led an extraordinary life. The family’s statement emphasized his significant impact on film, television, the arts, and sports, leaving an indelible mark recognized globally across generations. The family remembered him as a beloved brother, father, grandfather, partner, and friend.

“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Carl Weathers,” his family said in a statement. “He died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, February 1st, 2024. … Carl was an exceptional human being who lived an extraordinary life. Through his contributions to film, television, the arts and sports, he has left an indelible mark and is recognized worldwide and across generations. He was a beloved brother, father, grandfather, partner and friend.”

Weathers showcased his versatility, effortlessly transitioning between action and comedy genres. His diverse appearances ranged from Arrested Development to The Mandalorian, where he featured prominently in all three seasons of the Disney+ hit series.

Former co-star and California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger expressed his admiration for Weathers on social media, stating, “Carl Weathers will always be a legend – an extraordinary athlete, a fantastic actor, and a great person.

We couldn’t have made Predator without him. And we certainly wouldn’t have had such a wonderful time making it.”

Over his more than 50-year Hollywood career, he graced the screen in over 75 films and TV shows, earning an Emmy nomination in 2021 for his role in The Mandalorian. Weathers also ventured into directing, helming episodes for The Mandalorian, Law & Order, and Chicago Med. The veteran  actor was 76 years old. May his soul rest in the eternal peace.
