Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has reaffirmed Ghana’s determination to defeat Colombia when the two sides meet in Friday’s FIFA World Cup Round of 32 clash at Kansas City Stadium.
Speaking at Thursday’s pre-match press conference, Queiroz described the fixture as a crucial contest between two quality teams with contrasting styles, expressing confidence that fans would be treated to an entertaining encounter.
The Portuguese tactician said Ghana’s priority is to produce a strong performance and secure the result expected by supporters, while acknowledging the quality of the Colombian side.
“We are committed to winning the game and bringing the best result home,” Queiroz said, adding that the Black Stars will approach the match with the right attitude and inspiration.
Ghana arrived in Kansas City on Wednesday after completing the group stage in Providence and wrapped up preparations with a final training session at Sporting Kansas Stadium on Thursday. All 25 available players participated in the session.
Friday’s knockout fixture kicks off at 8:30 p.m. ET, with the winners progressing to the Round of 16 to face Switzerland.
A victory would also see Ghana reach the World Cup last 16 for the first time since the 2010 tournament in South Africa.
