CDD-Ghana, US Embassy, and Saboba Assembly to Handover Boreholes

Call us

The Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), in collaboration with the US Embassy in Ghana and the Saboba District Assembly, is set to officially hand over two newly constructed boreholes to the communities of Zagbeli and Ugbenbordo in the Saboba District of the Northern Region.

This initiative, funded by the US Ambassador’s Resilience Fund (ARF), aims to address conflict triggers in northern Ghana by improving access to vital resources. The provision of clean water through these boreholes is expected to alleviate a critical community need and reduce resource-related tensions in the area.

The handover ceremony will take place on Thursday, November 21, 2024, and will feature educational sessions on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) to promote proper hygiene and cleanliness practices. In addition, the communities will be encouraged to develop maintenance programs to ensure the long-term sustainability of the boreholes.

About the US Ambassador’s Resilience Fund (ARF)

The Ambassador’s Resilience Fund (ARF) program awards grants to registered nongovernmental, non-profit, community-based organizations to implement programs focused on addressing the underlying grievances and vulnerable conditions of communities at risk of violence and conflict. It provides a mechanism to build community resilience against instability and insecurity, particularly in northern Ghana.

The fund aims to empower local actors to tackle cross-border security challenges by fostering social cohesion, enhancing community engagement, and mitigating education, economic, and environmental vulnerabilities in the region.
