Premier League clubs Chelsea, Everton, Newcastle United, and Bournemouth, have expressed grief over the passing of Christian Atsu.

Atsu did not survive the earthquake which occurred a couple of weeks ago in Turkey, where the player plied his trade for Hatayspor.

Atsu spent the majority of his career in England, where he first joined Chelsea from Porto in September 2013.

“Everyone at Chelsea Football Club is devastated to learn of the tragic passing of our former player, Christian Atsu. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends,” the official club handle wrote on Twitter.

Bournemouth was Atsu’s third English team after Chelsea and Everton, however, the Ghana international did not spend much time with the side having just made two appearances.

The club also took to social media to say “We are saddened to learn of the passing of Christian Atsu. The thoughts of everyone at the club are with his family and friends at this awful time.”

Newcastle was where Christian Atsu spent the majority of his career, having played for five years for the magpies including a loan spell in 2016.

“We are profoundly saddened to learn that Christian Atsu has tragically lost his life in Turkey’s devastating earthquakes.

“A talented player and a special person, he will always be fondly remembered by our players, staff and supporters.

“Rest in peace, Christian 🖤🤍,” Newcastle shared on Twitter.

Atsu also spent some time at Everton.
