Chelsea youngster Genesis Antwi has joined Ligue 1 side Strasbourg on a season-long loan, as the 19-year-old defender continues his development in French football for the 2026/27 campaign.The Swedish-born Ghanaian defender, who has been with Chelsea since the age of 16, will gain valuable top-flight experience at the Stade de la Meinau.Antwi made his Chelsea senior debut in January 2025, starting in an FA Cup third-round tie against Morecambe, and has been a regular for the club’s U21 side.The 19-year-old centre-back, whose full name is Genesis Kofi Koranteng Antwi, is a rare triple-national talent. He is eligible to represent Sweden, Ghana, or England at international level. Born in Stockholm to Ghanaian parents and raised in England from the age of seven, he currently plays for the Sweden U21 national team and has also represented England at U16 level. His Ghanaian heritage means the Ghana Football Association could recruit him for the senior Black Stars team.Antwi’s performances for Chelsea’s youth teams and his senior debut have attracted interest from several clubs, with Strasbourg winning the race for his signature.The loan move is expected to provide the young defender with regular playing time and valuable experience in one of Europe’s top leagues.The defender will now join his new teammates in France as Strasbourg prepare for the new Ligue 1 season.
