The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has announced the suspension of its ongoing strike action following an emergency meeting of its National Executive Council (NEC) on Friday, March 28, 2025. The strike, which involved staff from the Civil Service and Local Government Service, was called off to allow further engagements aimed at resolving the impasse between the association and relevant stakeholders.
In a press release signed by Executive Secretary Isaac Bampoe Addo, CLOGSAG urged all members to resume work on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. This decision marks a significant step towards restoring normalcy in public services that were affected by the strike. The association emphasized its commitment to achieving industrial harmony while continuing efforts to address concerns related to working conditions.
The strike had initially disrupted operations within public utilities and local government services, highlighting longstanding issues over salary structure implementation. CLOGSAG remains dedicated to advocating for better conditions of service for its members. The association’s efforts are crucial in ensuring that public servants receive fair compensation and benefits, which are essential for maintaining morale and productivity within the civil service.
By suspending the strike, CLOGSAG demonstrates its willingness to engage in constructive dialogue with government officials and other stakeholders. This move is expected to pave the way for meaningful negotiations that could lead to a lasting resolution of the current impasse. As members prepare to return to work, there is hope that the ongoing discussions will yield positive outcomes for both the association and the broader public service sector in Ghana.
