Ghanaian actor and YouTube skit maker, Ras Nene, was involved in a heated argument with security at Achimota Mall in Accra on Friday.
Ras Nene, who is also known as Dr Likee, had previously obtained permission to shoot a skit at the mall. However, he was denied access by security when he arrived at the mall with his crew.
The security team informed Ras Nene and his crew that shooting skits without proper authorization was strictly prohibited. Ras Nene refused to back down, arguing that he had been granted permission to shoot at the mall.
He also drew attention to the incident involving Meek Mill at the Jubilee House in Ghana, where the American rapper appeared to have been allowed to capture photos and videos without restrictions.
Frustrated by what he perceived as a double standard, Ras Nene engaged in a spirited debate with the security personnel, asserting his rights as a public figure and entertainer.
The argument continued for several minutes before Ras Nene and his crew eventually left the mall.
The incident has sparked further conversations about how public spaces are managed in Ghana.
Some social media users have criticized the security team for denying Ras Nene access to the mall, while others have defended the security team’s actions, arguing that Ras Nene should have followed the mall’s rules.
It remains to be seen how the incident will be resolved. However, it is clear that the issue of public space management is a complex one that is likely to continue to be debated in Ghana.
