Debutant Iron Fighters Masqueraders ended up as winners in season two of the Connect Masqueraders Soccer Fiesta on Sunday, April 2 in Sekondi.
The one-day event was held at the Sekondi Methodist AstroTurf Park.
Eight masquerade clubs participated in the knockout tournament.
The eventual winners Iron Fighters started their tournament on a bright note after they knocked out defending champions, Oil City Masqueraders on penalties.
Ohy3wakomam came in stronger this season after a disappointing outing last year. They went all the way to the finals but couldn’t stand the night of Iron Fighters who defeated them 2-0 in the finals.
Many trooped to the venue to cheer their favourite masquerade club on throughout the day.
Event and Marketing Manager at Connect FM expressed gratitude to the competing clubs and the spectators who showed up.
“It was a successful event and the people of Sekondi showed Connect 97.1 FM love once again. The level of competition from the competing masquerade clubs says it all,” Henry Eluid Yankey said.
Standout players received individual awards from Miski with the winners going home with a trophy, a cash prize and products from sponsors.
All other competing clubs always got packages from partners.
