Voting has ended with counting of ballots underway in the Parliamentary by-election in the Kumawu Constituency in the Ashanti region.

The polls were generally peaceful except for two issues of concern to particularly Agents and officials of the NDC at one of the Polling Stations at Oyoko and also at the Bodomase Methodist JHS Centre Two.

But these concerns were promptly resolved by the Electoral Commission officials to the satisfaction of the complaining faction.

There were no reports of delayed start of voting, lack or shortage of election materials, or security breaches.

The Deputy Commissioner of the EC, Dr. Bossman Asare, and the General Secretary of the NDC, Fifi Kwetey early on in separate interviews with our Correspondent covering the exercise, described the turnout as very encouraging.

The final results are expected deep into the night since by regulations, the Returning Officer can declare only after receiving and collating results outcome from all the 74 Polling Centres in the Constituency.
