A High Court has granted bail to Ghanaian socialite Frederick Kumi, widely known as Abu Trica, according to his lawyer, Oliver Barker-Vormawor.

In a social media post on April 21, 2026, the lawyer wrote: “The High Court has just granted bail to Abu Trica. Shalom.” Details of the bail conditions have not yet been made public.

Abu Trica is facing legal proceedings linked to extradition requests from the United States, where he is accused of offences including conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering in connection with an alleged online romance scam estimated at over $8 million.

His legal team is challenging the extradition case, arguing that the charges do not fall under Ghana’s 1931 extradition treaty with the United States. They also maintain that earlier allegations involve what they describe as a setup involving an FBI agent, claims which have not been independently verified by authorities.
