Covenant Presby School marks 18th graduation

On Friday, August 1, 2025, the forecourt of Covenant Presby School in Dzorwulu, Accra, was filled with pride, joy, and excitement as the school hosted its 18th Graduation and Awards Ceremony.

Held under the theme “Providing Holistic Education to Children the Hope for National Development,” the celebration marked a key milestone for 30 kindergarten pupils advancing to primary school and 21 Junior High School (JHS) students who successfully completed their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

The event also acknowledged the dedication of exceptional students, committed staff, and supportive parents who have contributed significantly to the school’s growth and accomplishments.

Madam Yvonne Oppong-Ayisi, Acting Head of Syndications and Capital Markets at Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG), chaired the ceremony and delivered a heartfelt address. Sharing a childhood anecdote, she recalled how a teacher’s witty response to a homework question ignited her lifelong curiosity.

“Asking good questions is just as important as giving good answers,” she noted, stressing that holistic education nurtures intellectual, emotional, and moral capacities. She inspired the graduating students to rise as leaders, innovators, and dreamers, stating, “You are already a success, and the nation is blessed to have you as its future.”

In her welcome address, Headmistress Mrs. Evelyn Amoamah Antwi reaffirmed the school’s dedication to the Presbyterian educational philosophy of nurturing the “head, heart, and hands.”

She proudly shared the school’s 2024 BECE results with an impressive 100% pass rate with 88% of students earning distinction, and all graduates securing admission to top Senior High Schools across the country. Mrs. Antwi also highlighted notable alumni, including Master Frederick Lokko, winner of the 2024 Literacy Challenge organized by Channel One TV and Citi FM, who is now studying science at St. Augustine’s College.

Encouraging greater participation, she urged parents to involve their children in the upcoming literacy contest and to support the school’s “Read to Grow” literacy initiative, run in collaboration with the Girls Education Initiative Ghana (GEIG).

Guest speaker Madam Judith Amoateng Ennin, Director of Education for Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly, delivered a powerful address underscoring the importance of holistic education. She described it as a transformative tool for cultivating academic excellence, moral values, emotional resilience, and social responsibility.

“Our children are the ones who will drive innovation, lead with integrity, and build a just, inclusive, and sustainable society,” she remarked. She encouraged the graduates to view education as a lifelong journey and to bravely embrace future challenges.

To parents and teachers, she extended heartfelt thanks, calling them the “foundation” and “heart and soul” of every student’s success.
