Croatia head coach Zlatko Dalić has praised Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan while highlighting the quality of the Black Stars ahead of their crucial Group L clash at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The two sides will meet later today at Lincoln Financial Field, with Croatia needing a positive result after losing 4-2 to England before bouncing back with a 1-0 victory over Panama.
Speaking before the match, Dalić reflected on his time working with Gyan during their spell together at Al Ain and described the former Black Stars captain as one of the finest strikers he has coached.
“Our cooperation was excellent for two years at Al Ain. He is a robust striker, excellent in the air and in the attacking phase,” Dalić said.
The Croatian tactician added that Gyan’s qualities are a reflection of the strength of Ghanaian football and expects a difficult encounter against the Black Stars.
“If we judge by him, then Ghana is an excellent national team. He scored goals consistently and made a big difference. We have a tough task ahead of us.”
Ghana head into the match unbeaten after a 1-0 victory over Panama and a goalless draw against England, while Croatia know they must produce another strong performance to keep their hopes of progressing alive.
