Ghana international Daniel-Kofi Kyereh has officially parted ways with German side SC Freiburg after an emotional farewell ceremony held by the club earlier on Friday.Kyereh was among three players honoured by Freiburg as their contracts with the Bundesliga side came to an end following the conclusion of the 2025/26 season, where the club reached the European final for the first time in their history. The 30-year-old midfielder joined Freiburg from FC St. Pauli in July 2022 after an impressive spell in the Bundesliga Two.However, his time at the club was severely disrupted by a devastating ACL injury that sidelined him for nearly three years.Despite arriving with high expectations, the injury limited Kyereh to only 18 appearances across all competitions for Freiburg, during which he scored two goals and provided one assist – making him the player with the fewest appearances for the club over the past four years. In a positive turn towards the end of his recovery journey, the Ghanaian returned to action with Freiburgs U23 side and immediately showed flashes of his quality. He registered two goals and two assists in eight matches, reminding many of the creativity and attacking threat that earned him a move to the Bundesliga.Kyereh will officially become a free agent on July 1 and is expected to attract interest from clubs in Germany and beyond as he looks to rebuild his career after his lengthy spell on the sidelines. The former Black Stars midfielder remains one of Ghanas most admired talents, with many hoping he can rediscover his best form in the next chapter of his career.
