Former Manchester United and England captain David Beckham has become Britain’s first billionaire sportsman, according to the 2026 Sunday Times Rich List.
The publication estimates that Beckham and his wife, Victoria Beckham, now have a combined fortune of around £1.185bn. Their wealth places them among the UK’s richest sporting figures, second only to the family of former Formula One executive Bernie Ecclestone.
Much of Beckham’s post-football fortune has come through business ventures and endorsement deals. Since retiring in 2013, he has become co-owner of Inter Miami CF, now regarded as one of Major League Soccer’s most valuable clubs, while also maintaining partnerships with global brands including Adidas and Hugo Boss.
Beckham enjoyed a decorated playing career with Manchester United before spells at Real Madrid CF, LA Galaxy, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain F.C.. Victoria Beckham, meanwhile, built her fortune through her fashion label after rising to fame as a member of the Spice Girls.
