The Coalition of Aggrieved Members of Nmati Abonase and Leshe divisions of La has advised the Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mr. Stephen Asamoah Boateng not to interfere in the Chieftancy issues of La, an Accra suburb.
At a news conference in Accra titled ” Illegal and Inappropriate conduct of Stephen Asamoah Boateng, the Assistant Secretary for Abese Quarter, Mr. Daniel Tetteh Nunoo said the Minister have directed them to admit Kwade Okropong of Abese and Adjei Boahen of Nmati Abonase into the La Traditional Council spite of related cases at the Law court and the Council against them.
It would be recalled that the Council was suspended from it’s operations by the chieftancy Ministry and the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs for not having the required numbers to operate and as a result the move have created tension in La.
He said the Council have the requisite numbers to operate effectively, adding that the Minister have an
agenda to have some people admitted into the council at all cost and explained further that the attitude of the Minister shows disregard for due process of the law particularly cases pending against the said people at the Judiciary Committee of the La Traditional Council and the court.
” if the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs is operating with six Chiefs, why can’t the La Traditional Council operate with five Chiefs”, the Coalition wondered and pointed out that the Minister is disrespecting the Members of the Council.
He said the Minister is bringing the image of the government into disrepute and the Council will petition the President, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo to bring the Minister to order.
