Multiple award-winning broadcast journalist, Serwaa Amihere, has recently addressed a concerning trend among some women in relationships.
She cautions against overwhelming potential partners with financial burdens, emphasizing the importance of self-reliance and mutual respect in building healthy relationships.
In her statement, Serwaa observed that some women, upon entering new relationships, tend to offload their financial responsibilities onto their partners. This includes expecting men to cover expenses such as food, rent, hair, and clothing. She likened this behaviour to that of homeless individuals seeking complete support, which can be off-putting to well-meaning men.
Serwaa, known for her stance on women’s independence, advises against this approach. She believes that while it’s natural for partners to support each other, relying entirely on a man for one’s upkeep can strain the relationship and deter genuine connections.
“If you meet a Man who Loves you this 2025, Don’t Use ‘I haven’t Eaten’ To chase him away. Try and eat in your House.” She wrote on IG.
She further emphasized that being independent as a woman not only fosters healthier relationships but also empowers women to make decisions that are in their best interest.
