The revamped packages, unveiled at the premises of MultiChoice Ghana in Accra on Wednesday, November 4, form part of the company’s new Expect Plus offering.Under the new arrangement, the former DStv Access package has been rebranded as Starter, Family becomes Select, Compact is now Sports, while Premium has been renamed Ultimate. The new pricing structure puts Starter at GH50, Select at GH200, Sports at GH250 and Ultimate at GH570, making the Starter package the cheapest option available to subscribers.Speaking at the launch, MultiChoice Ghana’s Head of Communications, Afua Kissi Ashong, expressed excitement about the new offering and assured customers of an improved viewing experience.”I’m particularly excited about this new challenge, and we will have exciting things for you,” she said.MultiChoice Ghana Country Manager Alex Okyere described the changes as an evolution of the company’s subscription model rather than a complete restructuring.”This new package is not about restructuring but evolution. We are the best platform in Africa, but we are also customer-centric. There is more on these packages, and our customers get to pay less,” he said.He explained that the changes were informed by evolving viewing habits and the company’s desire to improve access to entertainment and live sports while delivering better value to subscribers.”Our focus is on giving subscribers better value and access to the entertainment they love,” Mr Okyere added. As part of the transition, existing subscribers will automatically be moved to corresponding packages under the new structure.Customers on the former Access package will move to Starter, while Family subscribers will be transferred to Select. Those previously on Compact will move to Sports, while Compact Plus and Premium subscribers will be transferred to Ultimate.DStv has also announced a uniform price of GH99 for its dish and bouquet, which will be available through authorised dealers and more than 300 distributors nationwide. The launch attracted several media personalities and representatives from various media organisations. The new packages are expected to cater for different viewing preferences, offering subscribers access to live football, Hollywood and Nollywood movies, television series and lifestyle programming. The latest changes form part of MultiChoice’s broader effort to simplify its subscription options, improve affordability and strengthen its value proposition in an increasingly competitive pay-TV market.
