Government is set to roll out before the end of the year the Electronic Gate, E-Gate system, which will see passengers travelling through Kotoka International Airport no longer joining long queues at the immigration.
This initiative is part of the government’s digital transformation agenda to enhance efficiency and convenience for travellers. The e-gates will use the Ghana Card, which has been integrated into the immigration processes. Dr Bawumia, who announced this during his campaign tour of some constituencies in the Greater Accra Region, said the process of acquiring a passport will also be made easier due to the integration with the GhanaCard.
Dr Bawumia campaign in the region brought together thousands of party faithful who thronged the various ports of call in the constituencies. The flagbearer held a series of stakeholder engagements at Anyaa-Sowutuom, Weija Junction, Domeabra-Obom, and Bortianor-Ngleshie-Amanfrom constituencies. He later on held a combined community connection at Galilea.
In all his engagements, the flagbearer convinced the crowd on why the NPP is the best choice for the country with regards to the numerous initiatives rolled out by the government over the years. He mentioned the digitalisation agenda, which has birthed mobile money interoperability, drone delivery of essential medicines, digital address systems, and the Ghana card. He said the introduction of the Ghana Card has paved the way for the E-Gate initiative at the airport to take off before the end of the year.
At all the constituencies, Dr Bawumia pledged to bring more development to consolidate the gains made so far. He indicated that through the Zongo Development Fund, 45 out of the targeted 100 projects have been completed.
The NPP Parliamentary Candidate Domeabra-Obom constituency, Abdul Wahab Mohammed, outlined some projects that have been done by the government over the last seven years. These include the construction of 50 mechanised boreholes, construction of a six-unit classroom block, and the construction of CHPS Compound and a Mother and Child hospital. He urged the constituents to vote for the NPP in both the Presidential and Parliamentary Candidates.
