In an effort to combat the pressing issues of poverty and youth unemployment in Ghana, the inaugural Entrepreneurship Jobs for All (E-jobs 4All) annual summit was launched.
This ambitious initiative, driven by a vision of fostering entrepreneurship, job creation, and women’s empowerment in Ghana, is set to make a significant impact on the nation’s economic landscape.
Notably, E-jobs 4All has gained support from the global business community, with the Network of Global Businesses Spectrum in Canada joining as a key partner. Furthermore, local experts and successful entrepreneurs in Ghana have rallied behind the initiative, offering their insights and support throughout the summit.
In an interview with Thelma Tackie on GTV’s breakfast show, the CEO of CEDI and Director of Research, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation at Data Link Unlimited, Kingsley Kwaku Pinkrah, shed light on the origins of this initiative.
According to him, the idea for E-jobs 4All was conceived in 2015 as a response to Ghana’s escalating youth unemployment crisis. A pivotal moment came in 2016 when a World Bank report revealed an alarming 48 percent youth unemployment rate, prompting the launch of a policy dialogue.
He mentioned that, E-jobs 4All offers a transformative solution in the form of practical entrepreneurship and innovation training, completely free of charge. The training equips individuals with the skills needed to establish their own businesses.
However, the program goes beyond education alone. Participants are matched with mentors who guide them through the process, providing invaluable support and expertise.
“We thought of not just providing the training because there are some times we have some people who have already taken the lead in whatever initiative which you want to bring up so while you are going through the training, we assign you to a mentor,” he said.
E-jobs 4All is poised to make a difference by empowering the youth of Ghana to take control of their economic destinies and create job opportunities for themselves.
This initiative represents a significant step forward in the ongoing battle against youth unemployment and poverty in the country.
