Dr. Kwabena Bempah Tandoh, former Deputy Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), has expressed interest in contesting the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary primaries for Asunafo North Constituency in the Ahafo Region.
The Goaso-born educationist confirmed his potential candidacy during an interview with Genesis Radio, pending approval from NPP leadership.
Currently Founder/CEO of Orpington Group—an education consulting firm—Dr. Tandoh cited his policy expertise and leadership experience as assets for constituency development. He addressed the NPP’s recent electoral setbacks in Ahafo, calling the results “very abysmal” while urging unity: “We must avoid pointing fingers and focus on reconciliation to strengthen our structures.”
When asked about his ambitions, Dr. Tandoh stated: “If the national party gives the green light, I am ready to serve.” He projected confidence in reclaiming the seat, declaring: “I will retain Asunafo North for the NPP in the next election through collective effort.”
His remarks have sparked discussion among local NPP members, with supporters viewing him as a unifying candidate. The constituency, currently held by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), is a key battleground ahead of Ghana’s 2028 general elections.
