The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) is requesting a thorough review of the circumstances surrounding their exclusion from the 2024 election ballot.
Their statement comes after the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) disqualified eleven (11) Presidential Aspirants including the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) ahead of the 2024 general elections.
According to them, as a party that upholds the principle of transparency, fairness, and democratic participation, they are disheartened by the apparent lapses in communication and procedural adherence that have led to their exclusion from the Presidential Election.
In a statement issued by the board of the party, they remain committed to upholding the democratic values and principles that underpin their electoral system and they trust that the relevant authorities will address this matter with the urgency and impartiality it deserves.
They added that the party submitted all the necessary documents to the EC within the stipulated time frame, in accordance with the guidelines provided and following their initial submission, they received specific feedback from the EC on Saturday, 14th of September, 2024, outlining certain corrections that needed to be made and also promptly rectified the identified issues and resubmitted the corrected documents to the EC on Sunday, 15th September 2024.
