Techiman Eleven Wonders have secured a dramatic return to the Ghana Premier League after three years in the lower divisions, following a 2-1 victory over Real Tamale United (RTU) in the Division One League playoff final at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, 30 May 2025.

The match was a showcase of resilience and determination, culminating in a stoppage-time penalty that sparked jubilant celebrations among the Techiman fans.

The game began with high intensity as Eleven Wonders took the lead through a composed finish by Frank Awere in the 13th minute. RTU responded strongly, pushing for an equaliser, and their efforts paid off in the 67th minute when Blabala Bamon confidently converted a penalty to level the score.

With the match headed for a tense finish, drama unfolded in the 90th minute when referee Selorm Yao awarded a penalty to Eleven Wonders after a handball in the RTU box. Farouk Ameyaw stepped up and calmly slotted the ball home, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to seal the win.

The decisive goal confirmed Eleven Wonders’ return to the top flight and etched Ameyaw’s name into club history.

Both teams had topped their respective Division One zones, making the final a winner-takes-all contest for the sole promotion spot.

The victory ends Eleven Wonders’ three-year absence from the Ghana Premier League. For RTU, the result means another season in the second tier and a need to regroup for another promotion push.
