Black Queens midfielder Evelyn Badu has revealed how former Ghana international Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu continues to play an important role in her development as she prepares for Sunday’s crucial WAFCON quarterfinal against Malawi.The two share roots in Seikwa, with Badu describing the former Black Stars midfielder as her uncle and a regular source of advice before and after matches.”He is my uncle! It is great to have him in my life because it means that there is a small chance for me to also make it far in my life,” Badu said.The former Ghana midfielder regularly speaks with Badu about her performances, offering advice on positioning and decision-making.”We speak before games, every time, after games. He explains to me something like; you should have done this, stood here, like that. You can do this.”Badu also revealed that Agyemang-Badu remains supportive when things do not go according to plan.”Even when things do not go well, he is there to guide me and keep on supporting me.”The midfielder believes his own achievements, including helping Ghana win the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup, provide additional inspiration as she pursues her own ambitions with the Black Queens.Badu now hopes to put that guidance into practice when Ghana face Malawi in Rabat on Sunday, with a place in the WAFCON semifinals and qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup at stake.
