Veteran South African coach Pitso Mosimane has officially applied for the vacant Black Stars coaching job, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively report.The Ghana Football Association (GFA) are currently in search of a new head coach following the dismissal of Otto Addo on Monday, March 31.Addo, 50, who has been on the job since March 2024, was shown the exit after Ghana’s back-to-back defeats against Austria and Germany in the March international window.As part of the team’s preparations for the 2026 World Cup, the Black Stars faced Austria in Vienna but suffered a 5-1 drubbing defeat.In their final preparatory game, the four-time African champions suffered a 2-1 loss against Germany in Stuttgart.Despite guiding the team to qualify for the Mundial slated for this summer in the USA, Canada and Mexico, Otto Addo was sacked due to the inconsistent performance of the team.As the GFA begin search for a new head trainer, Kurt Okraku, who is the president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has revealed that over 600 coaches have applied for the vacant coaching job.However, Ghanasoccernet.com can reveal that Pitso Mosimane has applied for the vacant coaching job.Mosimane is known for his rich experience and impressive body of work. He has coached clubs such as Supersport United,Mamelodi Sundowns,Al Ahly,Al-Ahli Jeddah,Al Wahda,Abha andEsteghlal.He is famously remembered for winning the CAF Champions League with Sundowns and ack to back with Al Ahly. However, Mosimanehas been without a job since January 2025 and recently expressed his desire to return to the helm of the South African national team if and when current coach Hugo Broos leaves.Mosimane ticks most boxes, and he would be willing to jump at such an opportunity, especially with a chance to guide a team at the World Cup and also lead them back to the AFCON, given the next tournament is next year in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.Ghana will begin their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 18 before facing England five days later and concluding group stage action against Croatia on June 28.
