Former Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) chairman Kudjoe Fianoo has called on Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kurt Okraku and his Executive Council to resign, saying sweeping changes are needed to reverse the decline of Ghana football.Fianoo believes the current administration has failed to deliver the expected progress since taking office in October 2019, arguing that the need to rebuild the game should take precedence over concerns about possible FIFA sanctions.Speaking to Graphic Sports, the veteran football administrator cited Ghanas 4-2 defeat by The Gambia in Accra during the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers as evidence of the challenges facing the countrys football. He stressed, however, that the problems extend beyond the Black Stars, highlighting concerns over infrastructure, youth development and the performances of other national teams.Fianoo also criticised what he described as an administrative culture in which personal interests are prioritised over the wider development of the sport.Okraku has faced renewed scrutiny following Ghanas disappointing start to the 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign, which has intensified calls for accountability within the GFA.Fianoo argued that the GFA president had been given enough time to demonstrate progress and should take responsibility for the current state of Ghana football. You can give him an excuse in your first four years, or even in your first two years. But if it is not progressing, it is rather regressing, he said. The former AshantiGold chief executive officer maintained that the responsibility for the situation should not rest solely on Okraku, insisting that the entire Executive Council should step aside. He headed a body that failed to perform. So they should all leave, Fianoo added.Ghanas struggles in the AFCON qualifiers also preceded the departure of head coach Carlos Queiroz, who left his position following the teams poor run of results. The GFA is expected to appoint a new head coach as it seeks to rebuild the Black Stars and improve their prospects in the qualifying campaign.Ghana will next face Somalia in a doubleheader in November at the Accra Sports Stadium, with the matches forming part of the third and fourth rounds of the 2027 AFCON qualifiers.
