Fidelity Bank Ghana has donated GHS1 million to support the Black Stars’ preparations and participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The cheque was presented by Fidelity Bank Managing Director, Julian Opuni, to the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, during a brief ceremony in Accra.

Mr Opuni said the donation reflects the bank’s commitment to national causes that unite and inspire Ghanaians. He noted that supporting the Black Stars goes beyond football, describing it as an investment in national pride, unity, and youth inspiration.

According to him, major sporting events encourage ambition, discipline, and excellence among young people, aligning with the bank’s focus on youth development and entrepreneurship.

Receiving the donation, Mr Adams praised Fidelity Bank for responding to the national call to support sports development. He emphasized the importance of private-sector involvement in sports and assured contributors that funds would be managed transparently.

The minister said the support would strengthen Ghana’s World Cup preparations and enhance fan engagement.
