Former Hearts of Oak coach and respected Ghana Football Association (GFA) technical team member Sylvester Nii Saban Quaye has died.
News of his passing emerged on Monday afternoon, June 29, with sports journalist Godfred Akoto Boafo announcing the development on his social media page.
Paying tribute, Boafo described the late football administrator as one of Ghana football’s most influential team managers.
“Rest well, Sylvester Nii Saban Quaye. Perhaps the most formidable team manager of the past 25 years,” he wrote.
Nii Saban Quaye was widely respected for his contributions to Ghana football, having served both Hearts of Oak and the GFA in various technical and managerial capacities over the years.
The cause of death has not yet been disclosed.
Tributes are expected to pour in from the football fraternity as the nation mourns the passing of one of its experienced football administrators.
